Why blogging?!
I recently have had a lot of time off and what could be a better way to fulfil it? I believe it’s to try something new, challenge myself and put myself out there. I have never been really big writer or good with words but I still want to give it a try. So here I am!
My style/what to expect:
I want to keep the blog as I like it. In the media, as they say, you need to be strategic and niche and so on… But since I have a lot of interests, I want to keep it vibrant and a bit chaotic. I believe this brings out my authenticity and it should speak to people, right? So what are those interests of mine: reading books, baking, eating healthy, travelling, learning about different cultures, spending time with friends, media related things, self-improvement, watching movies, beauty tips, and art. I think I could go on because I’m constantly switching on my interests. So no clue, how this could work out but let’s see, hopefully it comes together and is interesting enough for other people. :))
Why should I keep a blog?
To motivate myself I did some research on why keeping a blog is good and what are the benefits from it. Here is what I found. One of the first things that this article mentions: today’s world is thriving on short-term video content. This makes me believe that blogging is absolutely waste of time but then I saw some of the statistics. The article talks about that although content focus seems to be changed, blogging is still more important as ever. This is mostly because there are over 600 million blogs which makes up third of the web. People are publishing 70 million new posts and 75 million new comments on WordPress.com blogs every month. As well, 22% of bloggers post every single week. This is something I would like to accomplish as well. Being constant is important!
One interesting aspect that the article also discusses is that Gen Z likes to read. Being a Gen Z myself, I can confirm this and I have seen a trend within my friends or online, that reading is popular. Especially, the rise with book content on TikTok and aesthetics of reading, etc. Forbes did some research on it and it revealed that 55% of Gen Z read every week and 40% read daily, this is mostly because they read on their phones compared to older generations. If you want to read more about this research, you can find it here. So I guess there’s plenty of people to reach when writing!
Why I chose the previous article was their topic on “What are the benefits on blogging, even when nobody is reading it!”. I feel like this especially is motivating for me 😀 So here are some of the benefits in short:
- Blogging improves your website’s visibility on search engines. You could have 55% more traffic just by having a blog! There’s also probability that AI can better understand content when it’s written so it could boost it more than other media content.
- Blogs are staying on the Internet, and can be found by someone years later, which makes it work forever!
- Personal brand! They believe it’s the most important one with the rise of AI. Growing and keeping a personal brand is one of the best things to do since AI can’t produce human content.
- Personal growth. This one I mentioned earlier as well, but it is very important. I’m sure if I stay constant with it, I will learn a lot!
- Fuels the knowledge and ideas. The article talks how he has wrote some of the things and later used those ideas in interviews or in his personal life. Through researching and writing about different topics, I’m probably going to have new knowledge.

More reasons to start a blog!
One other article I read, talks about 20 reasons why to start a blog in 2025. Number one is that there’s opportunity to earn good money with it by doing sponsored posts, using affiliate links and so on. Who wouldn’t want to have an extra income?! I can imagine it’s not that simple at all, since it takes time and dedication to grow a blog. As well, the article mentioned that you can become expert in the field and well known in the niche. This is one aspect that I’m struggling with, as I don’t want to stay in one specific niche. I simply don’t have any interest for one topic. So for now, I’m going to avoid this suggestion and try to have my own large not so niche topic. I really liked the one idea from the article, which is that blogging is like having your own magazine. I get to write all my articles and put the design together. I have done two magazines during my studies, both I loved to do. So having that mindset is very helpful for me. Blogging improves writing skills. I guess that one is obvious, since I will be doing a lot, I would also expect to see some improvement in that field. Hopefully! There are few more thoughts on why to start a blog, so check out this article.
Summary of challenges
- I expect it to be time consuming, even a bit hard to stay constant.
- Improving my writing skills.
- Gaining new knowledge, especially about having a blog.
- Being out of ideas to write.
- I get bored with it after some time.
These are my main worries regarding blogging. I wrote them separately so after few months I can come back to these and reflect, how it really is to start a blog for someone who has never been good at writing. Also, I expect it to be fun and exciting for me to learn!!
So this is a bit about me, the motivations and the blog, hope you stick around!!
Do you already have a blog or have wanted to start one yourself? Would love to have your support, thoughts, feedback and suggestions on it!
